چکیده

Background Microvascular obstruction is a major problem after reperfusion therapy of AMI. A recent study reported that longitudinal and circumferential strain after reperfusion therapy is an excellent predictor of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in patients with anterior wall AMI [1,2]. In the current MRI investigation, we adapted a method routinely used in echocardiography for measuring LV, RV interventricular walls longitudinal strain [3]. Furthermore, we developed a well-controlled AMI superimposed with microemboli model to study LV and RV strain changes and compared it with animals subjected to LAD microembolization or occlusion/reperfusion.

Myocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...

Evaluation of strain and strain rate parameters using two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease (Research Article)

The study aimed was to measure left ventricular (LV) strain using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) for assessment of LV function. Eighty-two subjects (mean age 57±9 years) with suspected chest pain underwent two-dimensional (2D)-echocardiography before coronary angiography. Conventional echocardiographic parameters were used for the assessment of LV function. Longitudinal strain and its ...

Congenital Absence of Left Circumflex Coronary Artery

Congenital absence of left circumflex artery is a rare congenital anomaly of the coronary arteries. The prevalence of the anomaly in different studies ranges from 0.6% to 1.3%. Of these, 80% are benign and asymptomatic and 20% are clinically important. We report a 56-year-old man presented with acute resting chest pain who was diagnosed as having acute anterolateral infarction accompanied by el...

cMR in acute myocardial infarction: correlation between myocardial scar and echocardiographic strain

Global longitudinal and circumferential strain was assessed by echo in 15 patients after acute MI. MRI parameters including ventricular volumes, scar, and area at risk were assessed 3+/-2 days post STEMI and at 30 day follow up. Echo strain measures correlated most strongly with LVEF (r=0.81 and 0.88 longitudinal ad circumferential strain, p<0.0001) and infarct size (r=-0.68 and r=-0.69, p<0.00...

Left ventricular endocardial and epicardial strain changes with apical myocardial ischemia in an open‐chest porcine model

Early detection of acute myocardial ischemia is critical to prevent permanent myocardial damage. The impact of apical ischemia on global left ventricular (LV) function can be difficult to characterize using traditional volume-based echocardiography measures. Myocardial strain imaging is a sensitive, quantitative marker of myocardial deformation that can measure ventricular function. Recent adva...
